Hi everyone,
I have a client who I initially begun seeing to help with his dyslexic learning difficulties. He happens to have a stutter and although we have worked with some of his need for support in a practical way I have suggested working on reducing or eliminating his stutter. This definitely adds to his anxiety when doing a presentation and I feel it could also be interferring with his ability to recognise if a sentence makes sense once he has written it. This is only my own theory which I was wondering about because when I check my own reading I am looking for the rythmic flow of a sentence when I reread anything I have written. Of course when he rereads his work his stutter prevents this recognition from being easy. Anyway, if anybody out there has any ideas how I could work with this particularly those that have had success themselves I would love to hear your suggestions. Perhaps a recommendation of a good book on the subject would help too. Thanks in advance Mary Coope Reply to this Post |
